의료 인공지능 전문 기업 메디웨일이 총 200억 원 규모의 시리즈 C 투자를 마무리했다고 31일 밝혔다. 이번 라운드에는 프리미어파트너스가 주도 투자자로 참여했으며, KB인베스트먼트, 쿼드자산운용, IMM인베스트먼트, 하나벤처스, AON인베스트먼트, 스타트업파트너스 등 다수 기관이 공동 투자자로 참여했다. 이를 통해 메디웨일의 누적 투자유치액은 약 512억 원으로 증가했다.
2016년 설립된 메디웨일은 망막 이미지와 인공지능 기술을 활용해 심혈관질환과 만성콩팥병 등 심혈관대사질환의 발생 위험을 예측하는 의료 AI 소프트웨어를 개발한다. 대표 제품인 ‘닥터눈 CVD’는 눈 검사를 통해 방사선 노출 없이 수분 내 심혈관질환 위험을 분석하며, 현재 국내외 170여 개 의료기관에서 사용 중이다.
이번 투자금은 닥터눈 CVD의 국내외 시장 확대, 미국 FDA 임상·인허가 추진, 현지 사업화 기반 강화, 그리고 대사증후군 관련 신규 제품 파이프라인 개발에 활용될 예정이다. 메디웨일은 특히 미국 시장 진출을 위해 임상적 유효성과 실제 의료현장 적용 가능성을 검증하고, 1차 의료기관 중심으로 PoC 설치를 확대하여 초기 레퍼런스를 확보할 계획이다.
아울러 국내외 의료기관 도입 확대와 전략적 파트너십 발굴을 통해 사업 개발 역량을 강화하고, 내년 상반기 기술특례상장을 통한 코스닥 IPO 준비에도 이번 투자금이 활용될 전망이다.
프리미어파트너스 관계자는 “메디웨일은 독자적인 망막 AI 기술과 상업화 실적을 기반으로 글로벌 시장에서도 빠른 성장이 기대되는 기업”이라고 평가했다. 최태근 메디웨일 대표는 “이번 투자를 기반으로 매출 성장과 FDA 드 노보 허가를 추진해 글로벌 헬스케어 기업으로 도약하겠다”고 밝혔다.
최근 의료 인공지능 업계에서는 망막 이미지를 활용한 심혈관질환 예측 및 비침습형 진단 솔루션이 글로벌 시장에서 주목받으며 투자 유치와 사업 확대가 활발히 진행되고 있다.

Its flagship product, 'Dr. Noon CVD,' analyzes the risk of cardiovascular disease within minutes through eye examinations without radiation exposure and is currently in use at over 170 medical institutions domestically and internationally.
The investment funds will be used to expand Dr. Noon CVD's domestic and international markets, pursue US FDA clinical trials and regulatory approval, strengthen the foundation for local commercialization, and develop a new product pipeline related to metabolic syndrome. In particular, to enter the US market, Mediwhale plans to verify clinical efficacy and applicability in actual medical settings, and secure initial references by expanding the installation of PoCs centered on primary care institutions.
In addition, the investment funds are expected to be utilized to strengthen business development capabilities by expanding adoption by domestic and international medical institutions and identifying strategic partnerships, as well as to prepare for a KOSDAQ IPO through a technology special listing in the first half of next year.
An official from Premier Partners commented, “Mediwhale is a company expected to grow rapidly in the global market based on its proprietary retinal AI technology and track record of commercialization.” Mediwhale CEO Choi Tae-keun stated, “Based on this investment, we will pursue revenue growth and FDA de novo approval to leap forward as a global healthcare company.”

En outre, les fonds d'investissement devraient servir à renforcer les capacités de développement commercial en élargissant l'adoption par les institutions médicales nationales et internationales et en identifiant des partenariats stratégiques, ainsi qu'à préparer une introduction en bourse sur le KOSDAQ par le biais d'une cotation spéciale technologique au cours du premier semestre de l'année prochaine.
