Ravi Dubey, who plays Lakshman, began his career in TV in 2006
He had a degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering (from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology). However, this techie chose a career in the silver screen rather than the safe, stable 9-5 cushy job. He started his career on the small screen. Today, he is essaying the role of Lord Rama’s younger brother Lakshmana in the upcoming magnum opus Ramayana: Part 1. This will also mark his film debut as well, twenty years after his small screen debut.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, the actor said that there was a proper audition and a look test, and he had several meetings with the director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. He looked at the opportunity as something that you can’t ask for or pray for, and that only comes your way due to divine blessing or good fortune.

“You can't ask for or pray for this thing. What happened is far beyond your wildest imagination. There's a certain divinity to it. What one can do is put one's head down and continue working,” he said.

He recently appeared in Kaun Banega Crorepati season 18 and told Amitabh Bachchan that he couldn’t believe his good luck.

“The film is set to release on November 5. When I first found out that I would be playing Lakshman in Ramayan, I was stunned. As they say, it just didn’t sink in. Honestly, hand on heart, I still feel like it hasn’t fully sunk in. My wife, Sargun, and I believe that whatever happens in life is only because of divine blessings, divine will, and divine grace…’ he said.

Ramayana, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, and Yash as Ravana, hits the theatres on November 5.
