A Mac app that “moans” when you slap your laptop has gone viral online, with its creator claiming it pulled in thousands of dollars just days after launch.

Where would we be without apps? They make our lives easier and provide endless amounts of entertainment. Well, SlapMac is hoping to do the latter, but it comes with the caveat of having us question our life choices up until this point.

SlapMac uses the MacBook’s motion sensors to detect impact, which in turn triggers a range of sound effects when the device is hit.

There are currently eight voice packs you can choose from to mess about with, allowing you to give your Mac suss moaning sounds when hit, punching sound effects, and a whole bunch of farts thrown in for good measure.

Moaning MacBook app goes viral

According to the developer, their unique vision to make MacBooks moan didn’t take long to make, but they were surprised by how well it sold.

“I built it. Swift app, landing page, licensing, everything. 48 hours from zero to shipped. Threw it up for $5 [and] sales started coming in, and never stopped!” the creator shared via Reddit.

So far, the app has made a whopping $5,000 in just three days – not bad for a few days of work. The developer has also added new features, like the aptly named USB Moaner, which, as you’d expect, lets out a cry whenever you plug in a device to the USB port.

There’s even an in-built cooldown timer (everyone needs a break sometimes), and adjustable sensitivity options that are said to prevent “meltdowns” during rapid slaps. Hell, you can even keep track of your lifetime slaps, should you wish to see how handsy you’ve been with your MacBook.
