This collection of five Japanese performance cars comes to us from Morganville, New Jersey, courtesy of BaT Local Partner @The_Dude_Abides. It spans what many believe to be the high-water mark of Honda engineering, from the mid-engine NSX flagship all the way to a high-revving Civic Si. Four of the five hail from the 2000 model year, making the group something of a snapshot of what an enthusiast could have driven away from a Honda or Acura showroom at the turn of the century.

Auctions from The Golden Era Honda Collection will begin going live on Monday, October 12. A preview of the vehicles on offer continues below:
40k-Mile 1995 Acura NSX-T 5-Speed

The open-top NSX-T was new for the 1995 model year, adding a removable lightweight aluminum targa roof panel complemented by thicker side sills, A-pillars, and bulkheads to maintain the car’s rigidity. Drive-by-wire throttle control and electric power steering were introduced across the lineup that year, while motivation continued to come from the previous 270-horsepower 3.0-liter VTEC V6. Those who prefer to row their own gears will be happy to know this Formula Red over tan leather example is equipped with a five-speed manual. This BaT Alumnus benefitted from a timing belt and water pump service in 2023, and today it shows 40k miles on the odometer.

The NSX-T benefitted from a 1997 mechanical update that brought a 3.2-liter V6, factory rated at 290 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque, along with a six-speed manual transmission to the model. Honda’s mad scientists further refined the six-speed gearbox for 2000, while perforated leather added a bit of comfort to the cabin. This black-over-black car has been with its owner since 2012, and it has been personalized with a later-model rear fascia and side skirts, a WP big-brake kit, staggered-diameter Advan Racing wheels, KW coilovers, and a Pride exhaust. The passenger sun visor carries the signature of Shigeru Uehara, the NSX’s project leader and chief engineer behind the S2000.
34k-Mile 2000 Honda Prelude 5-Speed

The fifth-generation Prelude marked the final chapter of Honda’s original sport-coupe lineage, continuing the model’s role as one of the automaker’s technology showcases. This 2000 base model is powered by a 2.2-liter H22A4 DOHC VTEC inline-four, which produced 200 horsepower when paired with the five-speed manual transmission found here. This Prelude was sold new through Honda of Reading, Pennsylvania, and remained with its first owner for 25 years before being repainted and sold to its current owner on BaT in 2025. Black cloth upholstery and a power sunroof round out the equipment, and with 34k miles on the clock, it’s awfully tempting to add a few more.

Honda marked its semicentennial with the S2000 prototype unveiled in 1998. The roadster was hand-assembled alongside the NSX and the original Insight hybrid at the Takanezawa plant in Tochigi, Japan, before making its way to our shores for the 2000 model year. Its high-strung, compact 2.0-liter F20C four-pot was factory rated at 240 horsepower, good for 120 horsepower per liter without boost. Power is routed through a six-speed manual gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential. If none of that makes you feel like a racer, then the red push-button ignition and digital gauge cluster modeled after McLaren-Honda Formula 1 cars of the era just might. This AP1 is finished in Silverstone Metallic, one of four US launch colors, over a red leather interior. It first sold on BaT in 2025, and now it shows just 32k miles on the clock. Work under current ownership included a valve adjustment, a replacement timing chain tensioner, and paint protection film with a ceramic coating.

Last but certainly not least is this Civic Si, which was sold in the US only for two years and brought DOHC VTEC to the US-market Civic coupe with a 1.6-liter B16A2 inline-four, factory rated at 160 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and paired exclusively with a five-speed manual. Refinished in Electron Blue Pearl, this example underwent a multi-year refresh starting in 2021 that included an engine-out service covering the timing belt, water pump, rear main seal, oil pan, and VTEC solenoid. An Exedy clutch and replacement upper control arms, rear trailing arms, and calipers were also installed. This Si was further modified to evoke the era with a CT Engineering Icebox intake, a DC Sports header, a Revel USA exhaust, KYB/Eibach suspension, stainless-steel brake lines, and a Skunk2 short shifter.
