Samsung Launches Odyssey G8 G80HS, World's First 6K Gaming Monitor, Alongside More G8 Models Such as 5K@180Hz and 4K@240Hz
Samsung is quickly advancing in the display field by introducing newer flagship models. It has already been at the forefront when it comes to launching the leading QD-OLED panels using the 4th gen OLED panel, but it has now unlocked a new achievement by rolling out the world's first 6K OLED gaming monitor. As per Samsung, the 2026 monitor lineup advances Samsung's performance leadership, and by launching three high-end high-resolution displays, it has already made a strong statement.

Samsung's new Odyssey G8 series will now feature three more monitors, featuring 4K, 5K, and 6K resolutions. As for the 6K monitor, it's the Odyssey G8 G80HS, which is claimed to be the world's first 6K gaming monitor, boasting a staggering 6144 x 3456 pixels. It's nearly 156% the pixel count found on 4K resolution, a big upgrade over 5K, which is already overkill for modern gaming builds. The G8 G80HS brings a dual-mode setup, featuring either 6K@165Hz or the 3K@330Hz mode.
At 6K@165Hz, it's an overkill even for the most high-end gaming builds one can build today. RTX 5090's capabilities max out at 4K resolution, as we have seen the GPU struggling to keep up at 5K in some tests. At 6K, the RTX 5090 won't be able to keep up 60+ FPS in modern titles, but in competitive titles, it might be possible. The great thing is that the monitor can switch to a much lower 3K resolution, which is going to be excellent for gaming, considering it also offers double the fluidity.
Then we have the G8 G80HF, a 5K OLED gaming monitor that can run at a 180 Hz refresh rate, and also boasts a second mode 1440p@360Hz. It's suitable for both immersive and competitive gaming, but once again, pushing 180 FPS at 5K resolution is going to be extremely challenging. The third one is the OLED G8 G80SH, which will be available in both 27-inch and 32-inch models. This monitor offers a 4K resolution at a 240 Hz refresh rate and will be best suited for a modern gaming experience.
The entire Odyssey G8 lineup brings the 4th-gen OLED Penta Tandem technology as we talked about earlier, bringing better efficiency, brightness, and durability. Moreover, each monitor is equipped with the latest DisplayPort 2.1 to allow uncompressed visuals on these high-refresh-rate, high-resolution displays. Each monitor offers AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility for tear-free gameplay and HDR10+ Gaming certification for better visuals.
Samsung hasn't disclosed any information on the pricing of Odyssey G8 monitors, but the displays are now available for orders along with new Odyssey G7 and ViewFinity S8 models.
