Le PDG Hassabis a déclaré : « AlphaGo a été le point de départ qui a prouvé le potentiel de l'IA pour résoudre les défis scientifiques », ajoutant : « Nous sommes maintenant à l'aube d'un nouvel âge d'or de la science pour l'humanité grâce à l'intelligence artificielle générale (IAG). » Il a également prédit que le développement de l'IA entraînerait des changements beaucoup plus rapides et importants que ceux de la révolution industrielle.
