기술보증기금(기보)이 민간 투자기관과 손잡고 지역 기술창업 생태계 활성화에 나선다. 투자와 기술금융을 연계해 초기 기업의 성장 기반을 강화하겠다는 전략이다.
기보는 8일 대전 충청지역본부에서 카이스트청년창업투자지주(KVI)와 ‘혁신 창업기업의 스케일업 및 지방투자 활성화’를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 양 기관이 보유한 투자 역량과 기술금융 지원 체계를 결합해 유망 기술창업기업을 공동 발굴하고, 초기 투자부터 성장 단계까지 이어지는 전주기 지원 구조를 구축하는 데 목적이 있다.
KVI는 KAIST가 출자해 설립한 투자사로, 학생·연구원·졸업생 창업 기업을 중심으로 딥테크, 인공지능(AI), SaaS, 디지털 헬스케어 분야에 집중 투자해왔다. 현재까지 약 94개 기업에 투자하며 기술 기반 창업 생태계 확장에 기여하고 있다.
투자·보증·IPO까지 연결…기술금융 기반 스케일업 구조 구축
협약에 따라 KVI는 성장 가능성이 높은 피투자기업을 기보에 추천하고, 기보는 해당 기업을 대상으로 기술보증을 비롯해 보증료 감면, 투자 연계, 기업공개(IPO) 지원, 기술 보호 및 기술임치 등 금융·비금융 프로그램을 제공한다.
양 기관은 기술평가와 투자, 컨설팅 전반에 걸친 협력을 통해 기업 성장 단계에 맞는 맞춤형 지원을 공동으로 추진할 계획이다. 단순 투자 연계를 넘어 기술금융과 사업화 지원을 결합한 구조라는 점에서 의미가 크다.
정대영 기보 충청지역본부장은 “KAIST 기반 기술창업기업이 성장 단계별로 필요한 지원을 받을 수 있는 기반이 마련됐다”며 “민간 투자기관과의 협력을 확대해 지역 투자 활성화와 혁신 창업 생태계 확산을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다

Kibo announced on the 8th that it signed a business agreement with KAIST Youth Startup Investment Holding (KVI) at the Daejeon Chungcheong Regional Headquarters to "scale up innovative startups and revitalize local investment."
The purpose of this agreement is to combine the investment capabilities and technology finance support systems of both organizations to jointly discover promising technology startups and to establish a full-cycle support structure extending from initial investment to the growth stage.
KVI is an investment firm established with capital from KAIST , and has focused its investments on deep tech, artificial intelligence (AI), SaaS, and digital healthcare, centering on startups founded by students, researchers, and alumni. To date, it has invested in approximately 94 companies, contributing to the expansion of the technology-based startup ecosystem.
Connecting investment, guarantees, and IPOs… Establishing a scale-up structure based on technology finance
Under the agreement, KVI recommends investee companies with high growth potential to Kibo, and Kibo provides financial and non-financial programs to said companies, including technology guarantees, guarantee fee reductions, investment linkages, support for initial public offerings (IPOs), technology protection, and technology escrow.
The two organizations plan to jointly provide customized support tailored to each stage of corporate growth through cooperation across technology evaluation, investment, and consulting. This is highly significant as it goes beyond simple investment linkages to a structure that combines technology finance with commercialization support.
Jeong Dae-young, Head of the Chungcheong Regional Headquarters of Kibo, stated, “A foundation has been laid for KAIST-based technology startups to receive the support they need at each stage of growth,” adding, “We will continue to promote regional investment revitalization and the expansion of the innovative startup ecosystem by expanding cooperation with private investment institutions.”

Les deux organisations prévoient de fournir conjointement un soutien personnalisé adapté à chaque étape de la croissance des entreprises, grâce à une coopération en matière d'évaluation technologique, d'investissement et de conseil. Il s'agit d'une initiative majeure, car elle dépasse le simple cadre d'un investissement pour proposer une structure qui associe financement technologique et accompagnement à la commercialisation.
Jeong Dae-young, directeur du siège régional de Kibo pour la région de Chungcheong, a déclaré : « Nous avons jeté les bases pour que les jeunes entreprises technologiques basées à KAIST reçoivent le soutien dont elles ont besoin à chaque étape de leur croissance », ajoutant : « Nous continuerons à promouvoir la revitalisation des investissements régionaux et l'expansion de l'écosystème des jeunes entreprises innovantes en développant notre coopération avec les institutions d'investissement privées. »
