Adam SparksKnoxville News SentinelUpdated Sept. 12, 2026, 6:26 p.m. ETATLANTA — Skies are clearing at Bobby Dodd Stadium, where No. 18 Tennessee football will play Georgia Tech on Sept. 12, after heavy rains drenched the area earlier in the day.
A flash flood warning was issued for the area around Bobby Dodd Stadium until 1:30 p.m. ET. But the rain cleared out sooner than projected, and skies were partly cloudy with no rainfall as of 3 p.m.
The game starts at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Because of the expected inclement weather, Georgia Tech postponed a fireworks show scheduled for halftime to another date. In-game pyrotechnic displays will still go on as planned, the team said.

Rain is still in the forecast throughout the afternoon and early evening. But the chance of rain will decrease to 10% at kickoff with a projected temperature of 80 degrees. Skies are supposed to clear out by halftime.
That should make for more favorable conditions for fans, including those traveling from Tennessee for the road game. The nonconference game is sold out at Bobby Dodd Stadium, which has a capacity of 51,913.
Heavy rains fell throughout the morning and early afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium. That could make conditions slippery for the players, depending on how quickly the surface dries and whether rain returns to the area.
Bobby Dodd Stadium has artificial field turf as a playing surface.
