A Chinese manufacturer is now selling a modified GeForce RTX 5090 with 96 GB of memory, three times the 32 GB on the retail card. Shenzhen Suqiao Intelligent Technology, an OEM/ODM with over a decade of experience building graphics cards, motherboards, and servers, listed the card on Alibaba for $3,888. That's roughly 35% less than a standard RTX 5090 currently costs in the US, and a fraction of what NVIDIA charges for its RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell. The latter uses the same GB202 die and now starts at a whopping $16,000. Suqiao likely built this with a custom PCB running clamshell memory, packing GDDR7 modules on both sides of the board to double capacity, the same approach NVIDIA itself uses on the Pro 6000. The GPU die may come from harvested RTX 5090 units, reballed onto the new board and running on leaked or modified firmware, a method Chinese workshops already used to push the RTX 4090 to 48 GB VRAM. The listing does raise some doubts, though, since it mentions GDDR6X memory at 14 Gbps, which doesn't line up with a genuine 96 GB Blackwell build.
Other Alibaba sellers are apparently asking closer to $5,900 for similar cards, so Suqiao's price sits on the low end even within this gray market. If legitimate, it would give AI developers a much cheaper way to get large VRAM pools without paying workstation prices, though buyers would be taking on firmware instability and no official support in return.

#1 Glad to see some skepticism. Looks like 96GB 4090s purposefully mis listed. #2 Earplugs included?Regards,
Fred. #3 575w through a blower cooler, wowza.
LabRat 891Glad to see some skepticism. Looks like 96GB 4090s purposefully mis listed.it is, a 5090 would need a whole pcb swap for 96gb to be installed. #6 Pretty good deal :) #7 Wait, that’s less than 5090s go for where I am. #8
ir_cowPretty good deal :)If it's not a scam!
I'd love 96GB of VRAM for my local AI stuff, but I can't stand the 80 dBA noise that usually comes with these blower-style mods... #9 It is most probably a scam, see this reddit: LocalLLaMA/comments/1uh1lc7/96gb_4090s_and_5090_are_literally_a_scam_i_mods
The listing has been removed from Alibaba anyway #10 daym where did they get all that gddr7 from #11 War economy. #12 ....and then the connector melted. #13
Let3rWait, that’s less than 5090s go for where I am.No kidding, almost everywhere, 5090 is more than 5k. Some models are 6... #14 What I don't understand is whether or not the 5090 could actually address all 96GB?
What could possibly fill that space up? #15 Such Cards Are Moneymakers (for the scammers) #16
QUANTUMPHYSICSWhat I don't understand is whether or not the 5090 could actually address all 96GB?LLMs but these cards seem to be fake, they are usually modified with 64GB and sold locally to ai companies
What could possibly fill that space up?

I'm having a lot of fun with local LLMs, it's very addictive being able to have a go at making whatever you fancy & learning a little bit of the new things along the way. Add your own comment
