"The More you Buy, the More you Save" now makes sense as the DLSS 5 can now be run on the second GPU.
MGPU Bridge ReShade Add-On Enables NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on the Second GPU, Potentially Recovering Substantial Gaming Performance
Modders are making some significant progress with DLSS 5. The new Neural Rendering technology is no longer limited to a few games or hardware, but has expanded to multiple titles and GPUs unofficially. We saw the technology working on RTX 20, 30, and 40 series GPUs, as well as running on the AMD Radeon RX 9000 cards.

Now, another modder ran it on a dual-GPU setup, dividing the load between two GPUs instead of putting all the stress on a single card. YouTube channel "Marcelo Guibout" uploaded a video showcasing DLSS 5 Neural Rendering running on a setup involving two GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. This is achieved through a ReShade add-on called MGPU Bridge, which is available to download from GitHub.

MGPU Bridge basically divides the workloads between two GPUs, letting the first card render the game and the second card executing the Neural Rendering. As Neural Rendering takes place at the end of the frame, so the add-on takes the finished frame and sends it to the second card where the DLSS 5 is run, sending the final result on the monitor. In this setup, both GPUs needed to be connected to two monitors for this method to work.
The developer has tested this setup using two RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB GPUs. At 1080p in The Blood of Dawnwalker, running DLSS 5 NR on the primary GPU reduced the performance from 67-70 FPS to 44 FPS in DLAA mode. However, moving the neural workload to the second card restored the performance to 67-70 FPS. In Performance mode, moving the NR workload to the second card improves the FPS from 59 to a good 107. The feature has also been tested in Cyberpunk 2077.
| DLSS mode | DLSS 5 off | DLSS 5 on the render card | DLSS 5 on the second card |
|---|---|---|---|
| DLAA | 67-70 | 44 | 67-70 |
| Quality | 98-99 | 54-55 | 91 |
| Performance | 127-131 | 59 | 106-107 |
| Ultra Performance | 172 | 69-71 | 157 |
The measurements also showed that this setup achieves lower GPU temperatures, and the developer reports a 21°C reduction. Keep in mind that this project is experimental and there are also significant requirements. The current implementation is limited to DirectX12 games, requires two RTX 50-series GPUs, and two monitors connected to each card.
The developer says he didn't test two different RTX 50 series models for this experiment and this ReShade add-on won't work with RTX 40 series or older hardware.
