It's been known since Rockstar released the first trailer for GTA VI that the upcoming action game would have a massive impact on the gaming industry, and analysts have predicted week-one sales of $4.5 billion when the game launches in November. Following Rockstar's GTA VI showcase at Gamescom, reports have emerged that, between Netflix, YouTube, and Twitch, nearly 4 million users tuned into the live show—a number that had ripple effects across the internet. For starters, in the two days since the GTA VI Extended Look video launched on YouTube, it has racked up over 14 million views, while Streams Charts, a tracker for Twitch stream data, reported 3,970,738 peak stream viewers of the Extended Gameplay stream across both the official and unofficial commentary live streams and watch parties for the three hours it tracked viewership.
Netflix and Twitch users reported issues logging into their respective platforms due to increased traffic, while Cloudflare claims that Netflix saw 16% increased traffic during the event, and Twitch and YouTube saw a respective 12% and 39% traffic increase. The latter was likely at least partially due to how ubiquitous YouTube embeds are in news reports and official publisher websites, since Rockstar's own website saw a global traffic increase of 172% following the trailer's launch.

#1 Too bad it didn't crash like the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul boxing match. #2 That first day when the servers go onlne then shut down, " I paid all this money to pay GTA 6... " and then the complaints come rolling in. #3 looks boring from the few minutes i watched, i genuinely would rather replay sleeping dogs, and i think i will when i get in the mood again for that genre. #4 USA really looks and feels like a 3rd World Country, by looking at this video. Even if computer generated... #5 after seeing this video, nothing close to expectations. Looks like a new story added to a GTA V upgraded engine. #6 Bleh. I hate rockstar and IPrima.VeraUSA really looks and feels like a 3rd World Country, by looking at this video. Even if computer generated...Well this stuff won’t happen with the flock cameras. America has had a big petty crime epidemic so it’s the one good thing from them. #7
PSYCHOPATHiOafter seeing this video, nothing close to expectations. Looks like a new story added to a GTA V upgraded engine. They really lost the art of making atmospheric game, with the success of GTAO they will focus on that instead. GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas use the same game engine, but the atmosphere is different on each game. Heck in San Andreas it looks different on each city. GTAVI is set on Vice City but it didn't really look like one, it looks just like Los Santos. #8 For a service with 325 million subscribers it doesn't seem like many were interested in this.
Prima.VeraUSA really looks and feels like a 3rd World Country, by looking at this video. Even if computer generated...A miracle of video games #9
PSYCHOPATHiOafter seeing this video, nothing close to expectations. Looks like a new story added to a GTA V upgraded engine. What were your expectations from a an old and underpowered console APU? #10 Unless I misunderstood Twitch alone peaked at 3.9M for GTA trailer react so with Netflix audience it’s far bigger than 4M live no ?
Unless it’s twitch total audience with and without gta reacts at 3.9m #11 August 27, 2026 - The day physical game media died
Sony probably logged $3.5 billion in sales of a game that does not have physical media proving they were right all along that there will be no repercussions from dropping physical media. It's all just noise and when push comes to shove FOMO wins every time ....... #12
Prima.VeraUSA really looks and feels like a 3rd World Country, by looking at this video. Even if computer generated...it is. most things are run down except a few select areas where the rich people live. i still can't afford to see a doctor and i work 3 jobs. if that isn't third world i don't know what is. #13
Space Lynxit is. most things are run down except a few select areas where the rich people live. i still can't afford to see a doctor and i work 3 jobs. if that isn't third world i don't know what is.It isn't.
If you're working 3 jobs, they're all part time gigs, none of which are meant to support an adult in life. If you were working full time, legally they must provide you health insurance.
Most things are not run down. I don't know what urban disaster zone you live in, but outside of the major corrupt urban centers, things are well maintained. And no, I'm not talking about where the rich live.
You want third world? Go to Haiti. Or Somalia. Or cartel territory in mexico. THAT is third world. #14 Surprisingly, what I get from this news piece and presented stats is that 65% to 72% of the total comments found on this topic are linked to the dead internet theory.
I won't start speculating about the player count after 5 days (80h story content?), but I'll again complain about the hype and what now appears to be a whole system behind this game to spam the whole internet with it, that does not translate into actual human communications or interactions.
Kudos for Rockstar if they 4th wall this aspect into the game's content, somehow. #15 Well it's been about time people have been following and anticipated it quite awhile..now as long no more lawsuits because of how Law Enforcement is in the game...In recent news with me i'm up on a new cable install though..we rocking and gangster on the Tinno modem glad to be back after a couple weeks. It's how it was back in the day Provider stuff. and my 2000jule strip still doing ok. A+ in networking and install Certs. I gotta wait till this morning eso down for weekly service. I'm sure the shop strip will still hold in there, that one is designed for like a phased 3-5amp motor winding. #16
TheinsanegamerNIt isn't.yes, they are all part time because no one will hire full time because if they do like you said they HAVE to provide health insurance so must places only hire part time.... outside of a few factories where i live, which i can't do that level of job due to my medical issues. universal healthcare would solve this issue too, among many others.

USA is only first world country that doesn't have some form of universal healthcare. so it is third world in that regard, if it did have universal healthcare, i'd be doing quite well for myself in life. I hope you never have to experience 4 pages long of medical issues in this country. even private health insurance has overrode my doctor so many times in the past when i needed help #17 I wonder if netflix got enough traffic to offset that 100 million dollars they supposedly paid for the like, 8 hour window of exclusivity. #18 Well, this sure looks like a modern day Rockstar open world game, yup. The only thing I am interested in is the technical aspect when the inevitable PC version arrives, to see how far they pushed the engine. The game itself… I dunno, I have zero hype. It’s just… not very interesting? #19
Solidstate89I wonder if netflix got enough traffic to offset that 100 million dollars they supposedly paid for the like, 8 hour window of exclusivity.indeed. somehow, I doubt :D #20 Yep and afterwards I was thoroughly unimpressed #21
BigshrimpToo bad it didn't crash like the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul boxing match.it actually did, people were trying to stream it on Twitch, and that site had major issues for hours, and it didn't return to normal until way after the trailer ended #22
ZoneDymoYep and afterwards I was thoroughly unimpressedOnly took me 2-4 minutes of skipping around watching gameplay to realize the masses are stupid as hell pre-ordering this, but the longer I live, the more I realize the majority of people are pretty dumb in general.
