Customers of The Kroger Co. banners Fred Meyer, Ralphs and Harris Teeter can now have groceries and eligible prescriptions delivered in one order, Kroger said in a Monday (Aug. 24) press release.

This capability is delivered through the company’s websites and apps, and it is powered by grocery technology company Instacart, according to the release.

Eligible prescriptions are filled and verified by Kroger pharmacy teams, secured in tamper-resistant packaging and delivered directly from the local store to the customer’s door by an Instacart shopper. Customers can choose to have the delivery handed directly to them or left at their door, the release said.

In addition, Boost by Kroger Plus members receive exclusive discounts, 2x Points, streaming options and free grocery and prescription delivery on eligible orders, per the release.

“This new service combines the convenience of grocery delivery with the personalized care provided by our pharmacy teams,” Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health, said in the release.

Ryan Hamburger, chief commercial officer at Instacart, said in the release that this collaboration with Kroger brings “greater convenience to everyday life while preserving the trusted pharmacy experience customers depend on.”

This new offering builds on an existing partnership between the companies.

Instacart announced in June 2025 that it was powering Kroger’s Express Delivery, which offers grocery delivery in as quickly as 30 minutes from the Kroger app and website.

In addition, Kroger is among the retail banners that have deployed Instacart’s artificial intelligence-powered shopping carts called Caper Carts.

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Global Digital Shopping Index: U.S. Playbook: The New American Shopper” found that “buy online for delivery” is at the top of merchants’ list of three-year innovation priorities. Thirty-six percent of merchants plan to add this capability, according to the report.

PYMNTS reported in March 2024 that the integration of digital tools and solutions aimed at streamlining medication access and delivery was one of the most significant advancements in the healthcare industry’s transformation.

Amazon announced in February that it was expanding the geographic range of its same-day prescription delivery service.

Walmart announced last September that it added refrigerated and reconstituted prescriptions to its Same-Day Pharmacy Delivery, bringing the share of prescription medications it can deliver to 90%.
