Leak Tips Potential New ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Gaming Handheld

It was previously revealed that ASUS may be launching an update to the ASUS ROG Ally gaming handheld at Computex 2026, but not much was known about the new handheld at the time. Now, thanks to licensing documentation from the Korean National Radio Research Agency, shared by Huang514613 on X, a little more information has been revealed about what was previously referred to as the ASUS ROG Ally 2, and it looks like ASUS will apply some of the lessons it learned from the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Ally X to the new model. The new model carries the model number RC74XA, which suggests that it will be another 7-inch display, but it's also notable that the closest model number in ASUS's current line-up is the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X, which carries the model number RC73XA-NH011W, so it's possible that this will just be another version of the ROG Xbox Ally series. The original ROG Ally goes by RC71L-ALLY.Z1X, and the ROG Ally X is the RC72LA-ALLYX.Z1X. This also raises questions about the future of ASUS's non-Xbox gaming handhelds. According to Huang, the new ROG Ally handheld will still use the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, and it's unclear if ASUS will be hopping onto the new Intel Arc G3 bandwagon. Details in the certification documentation indicate that the new handheld will be available with several storage configurations, with SSDs from a variety of suppliers, from 512 GB Micron and Sandisk SSDs to 1 TB variants from Sandisk, Micron, Samsung, and Kioxia, and 2 TB Micron SSD. The most notable thing about the SSDs is that ASUS will once again be using the M.2 2280 standard, like the ROG Ally X and Xbox Ally models, so SSD upgrades should be easier to find in large capacities. There is also speculation that the new spec refresh will feature an OLED display, but there have not yet been any credible leaks to suggest that this will be the case. An official launch date and pricing have not yet been leaked or officially revealed, but it seems reasonable to assume that whatever new handheld ASUS has planned will make its debut at Computex.

#1 Probably one of the worse moments of unfortunate timing on ASUS's part if they're not going to cave on an Arc G3 version of the handheld—which, with how much they tied it up with Xbox, I would bet not. AMD would strongly disadvise of such a thing.With everything suddenly incredibly expensive, the only thing that can justify such a price is new hotness with new valuations. Olden chips carry the memory of how much they're actually worth. #2

Especially on mobile part where you need all the efficiency and capability you can get. Z2 Extreme feels more like mild refresh to Z1 than anything really impressive. #4

Samsung use RDNA 4 with their mobile Exynos, so it can be done. #5 An intel version of this device would be an interesting choice, specially because this are developed in conjunction with Microsoft, so this one is the most comfortable handheld in the market (Windows gaming Handheld).
